To promote a concept-based curriculum in home economics aimed at fostering versatile skills, we clarifi ed the subject-specific perspectives that home economics addresses and the qualities and abilities required in home economics. The research method involved obtaining suggestions on how home economics can be involved in realizing well-being in a sustainable society. Next, we organized the qualities and abilities required in home economics based on a conceptual understanding. Finally, we identified paths for a home economics curriculum to formulate a conceptual understanding.
We identified the following four directions to introduce a concept-based curriculum in home economics: (1) Design a curriculum with the pursuit of well-being as the subject axis. (2) Develop a curriculum that takes the family and home as its starting point and expands the idea of transferability to a sustainable society. (3) Consider the learning content and difficulty level of questions according to each student’s developmental stage. (4) Inquiry-based learning that draws out students’ interests and concerns should be actively incorporated. The promotion of a conceptual curriculum allows for the development of curriculum management with competency-based, cross-curricular learning.

In this study, we constructed a three-year lesson design for junior high school technology and home economics (home economics) based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), practiced a part of the lesson (first-year junior high school students), and verified the results. As a result, many of the students who changed their eating habits through the class took actions related to ethical consumption. Students who developed an interest in the SDGs through the class and those who understood and acted on the SDGs correctly, maintained their eating habits four months after the class.

With reference to the global report released by UN in 2019, we propose a future-oriented consumption education plan that creates new values through the creation of a curriculum for technology and home economics in junior high school. First, the concept of SDGs was organized into six entry points; second, annual curricula for technology and home economics were created. As a result, the entry points were: (1) Human well-being and capabilities, (2) Sustainable and just economies, (3) Food systems and nutrition patterns, (4) Energy decarbonization and universal access, (5) Urban and peri-urban development, and (6) Global environmental commons. In all entry points, we were able to find relevance to consumption.

The purpose of this study is to provide information on the perspectives, practices and challenges of the school supervision in the Indonesian education system. The paper reviewed and analyzed the organizational structure of supervision services in the Indonesian educational system, as well as types of supervisions; purpose of supervisions and supervisor roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, the paper explores the selection of supervisors and tenure; resourcing and training of school supervisors. A detailed analysis of the role of stakeholders in supervision activities and feedback mechanisms of the result of school supervision is also included in this paper. Finally, the paper also discuss and examine major challenges face by school supervisor and opportunities of school supervision in Indonesia and the way forward as suggestion/recommendation of this study.

This paper explores C. A. Bowers' main thesis: "environmental education for an ecologically sustainable culture", and tries to determine how the thesis is important in the theoretical effort to develop Education for Sustainability (EfS). The critical analysis centers on Bowers' three major propositions: (1) the radical criticism addressed to modern Western orthodoxies in terms of their compatibility with ecological sustainability; (2) the "reactionary" position against the unchallenged belief supporting the idea of "progress" with a particular emphasis on technological innovation; and (3) Bowers' peculiar "holism", which largely denies individualism and liberalism. These three propositions clearly separate Bowers' position from the mainstream ideas of environmental education. Bowers' argument, though with quite a few important flaws, serves as a good reference in trying to work out alternative approaches to environmental education helping us to reach a sustainable society.

In the modern world where lifestyles and the way people work have diversified, people need to flexibly sift through life, trying to balance housework, child rearing, care experiences such as nursing care, and vocational experiences. In view of that, this study first examines the state of the career development of home economics teachers from the perspectives of personal history, vocational history, and family history, and then aims to review the factors relating to the vocational identity of home economics teachers. This study surveyed 157 active home economics teachers using a questionnaire. As a result, a significant difference was found in the following factors relating to the vocational identity of home economics teachers: "faculty of the preferred career" and "period of wanting to become a home economics teacher" in the subjects personal history; "role model," "job separation awareness," "complaints and burdens concerning vocational life," "financial reasons" and "non-teacher vocational experience(s)" in the subjects vocational history; and "married relationship" and "awareness of leaving work for nursing care" in the subjects family history. The vocational identity of home economics teachers not only involves vocational history, but also concerns personal history and family history to a great extent. This study also revealed that these are also important perspectives when considering career development.
