当該年度は、交付申請書にも記載した通り、前年度に協力を得た小学２年生の児童と養育者に対する情動課題・語彙課題・高次の誤信念課題の２回目のデータ収集と、サンプル数追加のために新たに２年生を対象に実験を行う予定であった。しかし、コロナ禍の影響を受け、協力者を実験室に呼んで協力を依頼することが困難となった。さらに、当初は対面での実験を計画していたこともあり、オンラインでの実験計画へ急遽切り替えることも時期的に不可能であった。そのような中で行えたことには限界があった。実績としては下記に示す通りである。
当該年度当初における２年生若干名のデータ収集、課題の見直しやデータ収集についての予定変更にかかわる協議などが挙げられる。さらに、予備研究のデータ追加として、ならびに課題の見直しについての検討材料として、就学前児を対象にデータ収集（2名）を行い、予備研究の分析と結果のまとめも行った。研究分担者との協議で決定した今後の方針としては、前年度に対面で実験を行った２年生をふたたび５年生のときに追跡データとして収集すること、新たに３年生を協力者募集の対象とし、４年生までの２年間の縦断研究に代替すること、その際にはコロナ禍でも実験が行えるよう、遠隔で行える課題を用意することなどが挙げられる。４年間の縦断研究は行えないが、新たに研究分担者を加え（冨田享子・愛媛大学）、今後の研究を価値あるものとするために尽力する。 -

本研究は、「二言語相互依存モデル」に基づき、英国に在住し、第二言語で教育を受ける日本人児童を対象に、第一言語の発達が就学後の学習言語の発達にどのように影響するかを検証する。具体的には、①参加児童の日本語と英語の発達を多角的、縦断的に検討し、その結果を国内外の教育現場で使える査定ツールの開発につなげること、②乳幼児期の家庭での言語経験と学習言語の発達との関係を検証し、家庭の支援と教育現場の指導に生かせるエビデンスとして提供することを目的とする。
ロンドン補習授業校の協力を得て、小学1年生の保護者を対象として、子どもの言語発達と家庭環境に関する質問紙調査を実施した。さらにロンドンの補習校の2年生を対象に、7月から9月までの間に、日本語と英語の語彙力、文法力、ナラティブの力を含めた言語能力に関する調査と、非言語認知力、社会的認知能力を含めた認知能力に関する調査をオンライン調査と対面調査の両方で行った。母親からの聞き取りもオンラインで実施した。
質問紙調査の結果および言語発達の解析を行った。子どもの家庭環境に基づいて、国際結婚家庭、日本人両親家庭で長期滞在、日本人両親家庭で短期滞在の3つのグループに分けて比較を行った。また実験的調査に参加した児童の日英二言語能力に関して。個別にフィードバックを行った。
1年間の縦断言語発達調査の主な結果は以下を含む。日英二言語家庭のバイリンガル児は英語の語彙力と日本語の語彙力が有意に伸びていた。対照的に両親日本語家庭で3歳前に渡英したバイリンガル児は、日本語の表出語彙力だけが有意に伸びていた。語彙の発達には家庭で使用する言語の影響があることが示唆された。 -
自閉症を中心とした発達障害児の音韻体系の言語学・音声学的研究

本年度の研究成果は大きく4つの領域に分けることができる。最初は音声産出の生理面である。松井は自閉症児に見られる外国語様アクセント症候群と呼ばれる障害に関して、ほぼ純粋にこの障害のみを引き起こしている言語障害者１名を対象に、その特徴と脳内機序に関するケーススタディを行った。行動レベルでは有アクセント語についてはほとんど誤りがなく、無アクセント語が有アクセント語に変異するというパターンが多くを占めること、またその時のアクセント核の位置が多くの場合に ディフォールトのアクセント位置 (後部から 2 モーラないし 3 モーラ目) に生じることが明らかとなった。
続いて成人の外国語訛りとの平行性に関する研究領域で、野田は非母語日本語学習者の読解過程を調査し，どこをどのように読み誤るのか，わからない部分をどのように推測するのかを分析した。また，読解時に辞書を使用しても，適切な理解に至らないケースも分析した。このような読み誤りや辞書使用の問題点の中には，発達障害児に見られるものと共通するものもあると考えられる。田中は韓国語を母語とする日本語学習者の誤発音について、とくにリズム構造に焦点を当て分析した。韓国語話者が目標言語（日本語）における有標のリズム構造を極端に避けるのに対し、無標のリズム構造を過剰産出することを明らかにした。上記の分析結果をもとに、リズム構造の有標性と自閉症スペクトラム児のプロソディー産出との並行性について考察した。安田は日本人ドイツ語学習者の声帯振動制御に関して、音響的分析を前年度に引き続きおこなっている。
次に三浦は語用論的側面に関して、小学生児童を対象にプロソディの特徴について、コーディングを行っている。
最後に臨床応用面では、坂本がロボテクスの教育への導入が、学習不安の軽減に繋がる可能性を発見し、自閉症児の学習においてロボットを活用できる可能性を見いだしている。 -

This research aims at exploring the pragmatic usage/comprehension of prosody in children with autism spectrum disorders. The following projects were conducted under the above goal. (1) Literature regarding the speech characteristics in autism was reviewed. (2) Assessment scales for the speech prosody in autism was developed.(3) Experimental studies was conducted to test their pragmatic inference using prosodic information.

It is widely acknowledged that Theory of Mind (ToM) is closely related to language development. In particular, mental state terms are considered to play a substantial role in the development of ToM. In this research project, we investigated the nature of Japanese mental state verbs, how they are used by Japanese-speaking mother-child dyads compared to English-speaking ones, and how mental state verbs and their syntactic properties affect the development of ToM in Japanese-speaking children.
The results showed that Japanese-speaking children’s understanding of tensed complements under mental state verbs develops much later than English-speaking children, and the developmental delay of ToM widely observed among Japanese children may be due to their incomplete acquisition of the complement clauses. However, our analyses also revealed no correlation and no directionality between them; therefore, there may be no causal relationship between them. -

Japanese test of pragmatic language was developed to assess preschool and school-age children. The test contains items to evaluate figurative language such as metaphor, irony, and indirect request other than politeness control and the like.
The test was revealed to hit the development of pragmatic language from preschool to lower grades of elementary school and to discriminate children with autism spectrum disorder from typically developing children. The correlation coefficients between the test and Children's Communication Checklist-2 were relatively low while some of them were significant. The test was considered to identify children with ASD from a different angle than CCC-2. -

To evaluate not only how well the students understood the target activities but also their performance in class, we created an assessment rubric on the subject “Foreign Language Activities.” It consists of four items on speaking and communication activities, and each item has three different descriptors according to three levels: foundation, developing, and advanced. Descriptors are a kind of scoring guide used to evaluate the quality of students' constructed performance. Students can prepare and participate in the activities by using this rubric because it clearly provides them with a visual, cognitive map and learning tool for them to understand what they are required to do in the class. We can use this rubric not only as a scoring guide for teachers but also as a learning guide for students.

We conducted a series of psychological, neuroimaging and psychopharmacological studies focused on self in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A result showed that the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, which is likely to be involved in self-related processing, was significantly activated in ASD individuals when they processed autistic characters rather than typically developing characters.

This study examined anxiety in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We especially focused on the following topics and conducted the studies: (1) Understanding of affective prosody assessed by eye-tracking methodology. (2) Anxiety and behavior of children with ASD and their mothers affected by the great east Japan earthquakes. (3) Eye-gaze patterns associated with social anxiety during conversation. (4) Support for the anxiety of mothers and children with ASD. (5) Considering the perspective of the constitutional rights to improve support and special needs education for people with ASD. Our obtained results from the studies above would provide favorable reference data for the development of effective support for ASD people suffering from anxiety.

We explored autistic children’s understanding and use of prosody by using experimental methodologies. We found that children with ASD are hard to fixate their gaze at referential target or at speaker’s face immediately after hearing speech prosody. We also found that they have difficulty in controlling prosody to communicate their degree of certainty to others.

The goal of this study is to investigate how and to what extent high-functioning children with autistic spectrum disorder (HFASD) understand the speaker's mental and emotional states on the bass of prosodic cues. We conducted a series of experiments to examine if and how school-aged HFASD children understand (a) the speaker's intentions and beliefs behind verbal sarcasm and (b) the speaker's feelings and degree of confidence about the content of the utterance. Two main findings were obtained. First, when the utterance includes mental or emotional vocabulary, HFASD children prioritize the semantic information over the prosodic information in the utterance in order to infer the speaker's mental and emotional states. Second, when the difference among a variety of tone of voices is salient enough, however, HFASD children are able to utilize the prosodic information to infer the speaker's mental and emotional states behind the utterance.

本研究の目的は、健常児・自閉症児における他者の発話態度を推し量る能力について、その理解方略の違いや、発達的変化を探るものである。21年度は、他者の確信度の強弱をあらわすイントネーションと、語の意味区別を行うピッチアクセントという、音の高低にかかわるプロソディーの2つの側面の理解を比較検討した。小学校低学年の自閉症児・定型発達児を対象に課題を与えた。画面上に2つの画像が呈示され、その後流される音声を手がかりに(「これは、○○」)参加者がどちらの画像を見ているのかを眼球運動測定装置により記録し、またその後実験者による質問を与え、話者がどちらの画像について言及しているのかを口頭で尋ねた。画像特定の手がかりとして、ピッチアクセント(例:「雨」対「飴」)もしくはイントネーション(例:「ヘビ」対「ヘビ?」)が与えられた。その結果、プロソディーを手がかりに話し手の指示対象を特定するとき、口頭での質問に対し、自閉症児は定型発達児よりは正答率が低い傾向はあるが、ある程度の理解をしていることを示す結果が得られた。しかし視線追跡による結果からは、発話を聞いた後の非常に早い段階においては、プロソディーの意味処理が、語彙の意味情報・話者の心的情報ともに困難であることが示唆された。音素により明確に区別された場合とは異なり、ピッチという連続する音響的変化からすばやく意味を特定する事が難しいと考えられる。より遅延的な処理によって理解が補われている可能性がある。
