The purpose of this research is to clarify the history of Shikoku Henro by recearching historical materials from all over Shikoku. The Shikoku Henro consists of three elements: "pilgrims," "areas welcoming pilgrims," and "sacred sites," but research on "sacred sites" has been the least. The reason for this is that materials on sacred sites were not studied because they were considered objects of faith. Therefore, with the cooperation of various quarters, researchers from various fields in the four prefectures of Shikoku came together to conduct an all-Shikoku research on sacred sites, including temples and shrines that were not included in the fudosho. The results of this research were published annually in lectures, symposiums, exhibitions at the Ehime University Museum and the Ehime Museum of History and Culture, research reports, and the research bulletin Shikoku Henro and Pilgrimages of the World.

We have advanced practical research on the disaster areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake and other devastated ones based on progress in Local Historical Materials Studies after the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Collaborating with a highly diversified community of historians and cultural studies researchers, including those in adjacent sciences, a new development was created in the practical methodology for materials preservation and the construction of a disaster prevention system for cultural assets.
Furthermore, from an international perspective, we examined the preservation and utilization of disaster materials, including digital archives both in Japan and overseas since the 2011 catastrophe, as well as practical methodologies for passing on disaster memories in a local community. Our domestic/international conference presentations have established the basis for international collaboration on Local Historical Materials Studies. -

The “Shikoku Henro”pilgrimage is a circuit route connecting 88 temples associated with Kobo Daishi, and Daishi Hall in these temples expresses the faith of only Kobo Daishi. However, I understand that there was a variety of faith in these sacred places when I watch historical materials of the pre-modern. Therefore I extract a variety of faith before the faith in Kobo Daishi, and consider how they are unified by the faith in Kobo Daishi.This method of study is effective in investigating the establishment process of 88 temples which is not yet apparent. This study tried to solve this problem by researching the cultural resource in 88 temmples generally. I investigated generally #51 Ishiteji Temple, #52 Taisanji Temple, and made reports on these temples. I investigated a part of the ancient documents such as #74 Kouyamaji Temple, #75 Zentuuji Temple,#86 Shidoji Temmple.

本研究は、大災害が継起する日本列島の地域社会において、災害を記憶し、災害に強い「災害文化」形成に対応しうる地域歴史資料学を、従来の成果の上に確立することをめざすものである。
本年度は、4～5月に科研基盤研究（A）の準備を進め、5月に基盤研究（A）遂行の前提のための報告を歴史学研究会大会特設部会で代表者・分担者が行った。また、その成果を分担者・協力者の間で共有・議論し、新規採択された基盤研究（S）「災害文化形成を担う地域歴史資料学の確立―東日本大震災を踏まえて―」に引き継いだ。 -

We searched the old historical documents at Temple no. 51, Ishiteji and Temple no. 52, Taizanji.We organized many undiscovered data and published a report.We clarified many new facts. For example,the original legend of Emon Saburo is not based on the faith in Kobo Daishi, but on the faith of Kumano at Temple no. 51, Ishiteji.We did a comparative study of the Shikoku Pilgrimage with other pilgrimages of Japan and overseas countries.We clarified new fact that the Shikoku Pilgrimage was not concerned with a religious community and power,but the Shikoku Pilgrimage was constructed by commoners.
